PRODUCTS OF
"SPRING" SEASON
Every season the land offers us its fruits full
of properties, necessary properties for the organism and to face the
inclemencies of that season.
Today we will talk about some fruits and
vegetables that are characterized by their high water content and antioxidants,
which help to replenish energy. They are products that help us face the spring.
Cherries: They have few calories and their
fiber lightens the intestinal transit by ingesting them in reasonable
quantities.
• Reduce uric acid. A study by the US
Department of Agriculture (USDA) proved that consuming them daily decreases
uric acid levels thanks to its anthocyanins, helping to prevent gout.
• They are rich in vitamins A, C and E,
potassium, magnesium and folic acid, and one of the few foods that contain
melatonin, which regulates the sleep-wake cycle. All these substances preserve
memory and brain health.
• This fruit is a perfect ally to maintain
weight, because 100gr only have 50 calories. In addition, as they are rich in
quercetin, an antioxidant that repairs the damage of free radicals, protect the
heart and cancer. Take care of the defenses.
• The infusion of cherry stems has a potent
diuretic action.
Radish: Can be seasoned for use as refreshing
snacks. They have few calories and lots of water. Perfect to use as a snack.
• Its sulfur compounds have antibacterial and
expectorant properties. For this reason, if you have cold congestion, allergies
or sinusitis, it can help to unblock your airways.
• Several studies corroborate that radish
maintains the good appearance of the skin, as it stimulates liver and
gallbladder function and helps us to purge toxins. It rejuvenates tissues.
• One of its most notable benefits is that
because of its fiber, it hinders the absorption of saturated fats, which
improves "good" cholesterol and helps regulate blood pressure. On
sticks are ideal for "dipping" in a vegetable cream or vegetable
paté. Regulate the pressure.
Beans: Beans used in small portions take care
of our weight and are important in menopause. They are very nutritious and help
to avoid having glycemic peaks.
• Its isoflavones (antioxidants) help offset
hormone deficiency "especially estrogen" and help soothe
uncomfortable menopause symptoms such as hot flashes.
• The beans are notable for their content in
the amioacid L-DOPA (levodopa), useful to reduce the mild symptoms of these
diseases, both to improve the motor capacity in the parkinsonian, and to slow
cognitive deterioration of alzheimer's.
• They contain substances that make it
difficult to absorb some of their nutrients, but neutralize them by cooking the
beans in salt water or by soaking them before cooking.
Eggplant:
• Several studies from the Institute of Biology
at the University of São Paulo confirm that bitter substances stimulate the
secretion of bile which, combined with fiber, reduces "bad"
cholesterol in the blood. They help lower cholesterol.
• Research on eggplant phenols, coupled with
their significant calcium levels, has been shown to work effectively in
preventing osteoporosis, contributing to increased bone density.
• Take advantage of its richness in iron and
copper by testing different preparations. For example a "vegetable
caviar", asparagus, cut it into small pieces, mix with chopped garlic and
a little salmon, and seasoning. It is very rich in minerals.
