SENDERISMO: O Courel (Ruta Xestoso-Lasmas-Vilar-Parteme-Soan-Orxais)

El Courel no deja indiferente a nadie y menos

cuando tenemos la oportunidad de visitarlos acompañados de personas conocedoras de los senderos y de lugares maravillosos que se esconden entre la naturaleza.

Pero todo cuenta en una excursión , el lugar, la compañía , la velocidad y una buena comida que reconforte y te ayude a reponer las fuerzas.

Quiroga es uno de los municipios más extensos de Galicia que está situado en el sureste de la provincia de Lugo y forma parte de su propia comarca. Su frontera suroeste la forma el cauce del río Sil, al sur la provincia de Ourense y en el este limita con la provincia de León. Esta es una tierra en la que podemos encontrar restos del pasado como por ejemplo asentamientos castrenses o numerosas minas de oro de la época de los romanos.

Parte del territorio del norte de Quiroga, está dentro de la Serra de O Courel, uno de los principales atractivos del municipio declarado LIC, en donde podemos realizar diversas rutas de senderismo.

Nosotros nos juntamos para hacer esta bonita senda de unos 10 kilómetros, desniveles casi inapreciables y con una dificultad baja.

Empezamos la excursión en el Cementerio de Xestoso do Lor donde dejamos los coches y empezamos a caminar por la carretera, solo unos metros, para coger el camino que nos llevará al campo da festa de Lamas do Lor. Continuamos por el camino que une Lamas y vilar por donde vimos azafrán salvaje que cubría algunas zonas de un manto color malva precioso. El día nos acompañaba y la temperatura también así que fue muy agradable y pudimos disfrutar de la belleza del paraje. Los caballos salvajes, las vacas pastando con tranquilidad, comiendo en los prados y tomando el sol a su aire, los huertos pequeños y los campos llenos de hierba, hacen de esta excursión un sueño de relax mental durante todo el trayecto.

Continuamos hasta encontrar el camino que nos lleva a Parteme atravesando el pueblo, muy curioso donde los lugareños nos miraban extrañados de ver tanta gente. Es un pueblo pequeño donde las construcciones de las viviendas siguen siendo las típicas de la zona, salvo alguna excepción. Aunque algunas viviendas se encontraban abandonadas desafortunadamente.

Si bien es cierto, los habitantes que encontramos tenían edades

avanzadas y salvo alguna excepción pudimos encontrar algún matrimonio joven de entre 30 y 40 años. La vida en el campo es difícil y duro y su futuro es algo dudoso por ello todos los jóvenes se van a la ciudad buscando una oportunidad y una vida más comoda.

Seguimos por el bonito camino que lleva a Soán do Lor y desde aquí giramos a Xestoso donde comimos de maravilla. Pero hay que hablar de todo lo que nos deparó el camino. Toda la ruta era un descubrimiento de belleza. Pasear entre el los soutos de castaños por doquier, castaños centenarios,cuyos troncos delatan sus cientos de años pero que eso no implica pobreza de producción de castañas ya que estaban cargadísimos de ellas. Esta zona fue una gran productora de este fruto, que es un manjar cuando se sabe preparar, y sus secaderos eran grandes e importantes. También se encontraban nogales  con sus frutos todavía verdes pero preparados para madurar y ser recolectados… y eso sin hablar de la cantidad de árboles frutales que rodeaban los jardines de las casas.

Las praderas eran espectaculares, verdes y con pequeños huertos para consumo propio lleno de calabazas y kale verde… todo un espectáculo de naturaleza en su máximo esplendor.

Fue una excursión magnifica no solo por el paraje, también por la compañía y por un día magnifico de sol que hacía que todo reluciera aun con más belleza de lo habitual.

HIKING: The Courel (Route Xestoso-Lasmas-Vilar-Parteme-Soan-Orxais)

The Courel does not leave anyone indifferent and less when we have the opportunity to visit them accompanied by people who know the paths and wonderful places that hide between nature.

But everything counts in a trip, the place, the company, the speed and a good food that comforts and helps you to replenish the forces.

Quiroga is one of the most extensive municipalities of Galicia that is located in the southeast of the province of Lugo and forms part of its own region. Its southwest border forms the channel of the river Sil, to the south the province of Ourense and in the east it limits with the province of Leon. This is a land in which we can find remains of the past such as military settlements or numerous gold mines from the time of the Romans.

Part of the northern territory of Quiroga, it is within the Serra de O Courel, one of the main attractions of the municipality declared LIC, where we can make various hiking trails.

We got together to make this beautiful path of about 10 kilometers, unevenness almost priceless and with a low difficulty.

We started the tour in the Cesterio de Xestoso do Lor where we left the cars and started walking along the road, just a few meters, to take the road that will take us to the field of the party of Lamas do Lor. We continue along the road that connects Lamas and Vilar where we saw wild saffron that covered some areas of a beautiful mauve mantle. The day was with us and the temperature also so was very pleasant and we were able to enjoy the beauty of the place. Wild horses, cows grazing quietly, eating in the meadows and sunbathing in the air, small orchards and fields full of grass, make this excursion a dream of mental relaxation during the whole journey.

We continue until we find the path that takes us to Parteme crossing the town, very curious where the locals looked at us surprised to see so many people. It is a small town where the buildings of the houses are still typical of the area, with some exceptions. Although some homes were unfortunately abandoned.

Although it is true, the inhabitants that we found were advanced ages and with some exceptions we could find some young marriage between 30 and 40 years. Life in the countryside is difficult and hard and its future is somewhat doubtful so all the young people go to the city looking for an opportunity and a more comfortable life.

We continue along the beautiful road that leads to Soán do Lor and from here we turn to Xestoso where we had a wonderful meal. But we must talk about everything that came our way. The whole route was a discovery of beauty. Stroll among the chestnut groves everywhere, chestnut trees centenaries, whose trunks betray their hundreds of years but that does not imply poverty of production of chestnuts since they were loaded with them.

This area was a great producer of this fruit, which is a delicacy when it is known to prepare, and its dryers were large and important. There were also walnuts with their fruits still green but ready to ripen and be harvested ... not to mention the amount of fruit trees that surrounded the gardens of the houses.

The prairies were spectacular, green and with small orchards for their own consumption full of pumpkins and green kale ... all a spectacle of nature in its maximum splendor.

It was a magnificent excursion not only for the place, also for the company and for a magnificent day of sun that made everything shine even more beautiful than usual.
